The Sweetest Gig

PhotobucketPhotobucket
As if I'm not already busy enough with my part time job, my online job, and various other tasks to juggle around, the last few months I've been working as a freelance photographer for a contracting firm, conducting photo shoots of the company's previously contracted spaces in use (mainly offices and businesses). I've definitely enjoyed working for them, and it's been a blessing that they keep coming back to do work with me. I'll be honest, I didn't expect them to keep me around as long as they have because I know very little about corporate photography. But I'm glad they have, it's been a great experience.
Photobucket
My latest job for them was two weeks ago and it was the SWEETEST gig ever, literally.
Photobucket
I got to do a shoot in the National Confectioners Association office, the only place where candy means business. And boy did I have a good time.
Photobucket
It was pretty dangerous that they left me unsupervised in their "candy shop" ... but I managed.
Photobucket
Later on in the shoot I slipped into the President's office to take a few
pictures of his office space, and guess what I spied with my little eye?
Photobucket
Photos of Lauren Graham a.k.a. Lorelai chillin on a side table.
Photobucket
I talked with the President for a bit and he told me Lauren Graham is his daughter, and that she's currently on Broadway as Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. He also said that if I was ever in NY to go see her perform. Sigh ... there's so much I still haven't seen on Broadway. Guys and Dolls is another must.
Photobucket
This office by far was the most colorful and most playful I've seen the company design, I'm glad I got assigned to shoot it. Also at the end of my visit the office sent me home with a bag full of sweets, a lovely little perk for an already super awesome gig. I love this job.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP FUN!!!

It's been along time coming, but it's finally starting to sink in ...
I've got myself a photography internship this summer!!!!!!!!!!!
And remember that I had some exciting news about
Kristen Leigh that I wanted to share very soon???
Well, the news is that I've been blessed with the opportunity to intern for Kristen Leigh this summer! YAY!!! There are 3 other gals who'll be with me, learning, growing, and having fun ... all with a pro to guide us and just have a good time with. I am beyond excited, and beyond blessed because the slots for interns were few, but God definitely made a way. Ekkkkssss!!! Praise God!!!
{I can't wait for July to get here!}

Collection of the week {73} - Kristen Leigh

One of my favorite photographers from last year is this super talented, fun and young photographer named Kristen Leigh. She's a local gal and some one I truly admire in the industry. Her story is inspiring, along with her work, her amazing resume and the amount of experience she has under her belt ... and the biggest wow factor is that ..... she's younger than me, {Note I'm only 22}. My admiration for her continues to grow as her work and talent grow too.

{Groom = Drummer for My Favorite Highway}

What I truly love about Kristen's work is the subdued, romantic quality her photos always take on. I heart Kristen Leigh.

{***WATCH OUT for I'll be posting some
exciting news about
Kristen Leigh very very very soon***}

Collection of the week {72}

I stumbled upon this next collection via Style Me Pretty,  {yes both my sister and I adore weddings} and I'm so delighted to have found Steep Street's photography while browsing around.

Simply put, Kelty's images are so vivid with personality and color, yet each image is still so honest and so real. I've not perfectly mastered the art of translating such honesty but seeing her work makes me want to work for just that. All of her images look like they could have been cut out from editorial spreads from some of the biggest fashion magazines.
Fall in love with Steep Street yourself.

Old VA meets New VA

It's no secret I love Photojojo ... and I love VA.
Hense my love for this Awesome post.

These are both minutes a way from where I live and one thing that I love about Virginia is that the buildings and homes have so much character. Virginia is still as beautiful as it was back then.
Jasone Powelle rocks!!

I love Mango RED

I love when friends share links, blogs, art, photos .. anything really that they think I'd fancy. And man I'm oh soooo greatful for Mrs. Ramos over there in sunny California for sharing a link to her highschool friends' wedding photographer's blog {a mouth full i know but hope your still with me.. hahah} LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! May I add, these is the work of her highschool friends' wedding photography. I love their work so much I had to blog it ASAP! Beautiful doesn't even begin to describe their work.

Mango RED = AMAZING!

Their work and style has the likings of a growing favorite of mine, Tec Petaja and with the editorial flair like that of Lauren Dukoof.

But what gets me the most is that their work is this incredible though they've humble stated they haven't had formal art school training or even hold degrees in the beauty that they make. It's something I can resonate with, which is a huge encouragement ... giving me hope in everything I do, make, or create on my own.

Sigh ... Their work is like walking through a beautiful dream that you never want to end.

Mango RED = AMAZING!

Collection of the week {66}

My newest blog crush, is my newest photography crush ... I'm loving Sara Rhoads Photography.

Besides her amazing photography work, I think her blog is THEE greatest!!! I love the way it's laid out and designed and she's quite a beauty herself. I've been itching to share this find for quite some time hope you fall in love with her work too.

I love love love AHAPPYENDING!!!

It's an absolute joy making new friends on Etsy, friends who craft and get creative too. It's also a great joy to make trades with these fellow Etsians. One of my most recent trades was for a painting on a deep canvas from ahappyending. And man do I love ahappyending.

Here is my "Dreamer of Dreams" print from Nichole, of ahappyending which I've placed in my window sill that sits above my headboard and couldn't have picked a lovelier place. It's sitting next to my broken alarm clock, that's sits next to a photo of my dad, that's next to a hanging bouquet of old roses {something I always do with my roses though I rarely get any}. And if you're wondering why theres a pillow in my window sill behind all this stuff, it's actually a draft pillow I made to help keep the winter chill out.

I love this print oh soo much and it's my first ever but I hope to have a large collection of painted prints one day. I picked this print because I have many dreams and aspirations and little by little God is gracious enough to allow my dreams to slowly become reality .. but as I continue to grow so do my dreams. Yet as ironic as this may sound, I rarely have dreams {scientifically I know I do, but I can never can recall a single one} ... I guess my vivid imagination and limitless aspirations make up for that.

Anyways .. on the other end of this awesome trade, Nichole got some Rini & Faith loving and man is Rini & Faith loving her! Nichole is not only super sweet and super talented, {little.miss.photographer is her blog} but she is as cute as a button!!

You make me want to chop all my hair off Nichole and be a rock star like you!!!
Thanks so much for the trade and for the pictures you're awesome and
I love love love ahappyending!!!
Have ahappyending of your own!

Collection of the week {52}

I'm shamelessly in love with Alicia Block Photography.

I have been for quite some time, long before I saw her work posted on Oh Joy! I think Alicia Block was one of my first favorited shops on Etsy, I just haven't been able to share my infatuation with her work 'til now. Her work is super cute and whimsical, I'd kill to have a collection of her up on my walls.
