Collection of the week {16}

I heart Kurt Halsey Frederiksen.

While on a small visit to Urban Outfitters this weekend I saw some of Kurt Halsey's lovely prints in stock and seeing them brought a smile to my face. I remember stumbling over Kurt Halsey's work on ArtStarPhilly.com and how I instantly fell in love. Seeing as his work revolves around his "hopeless romantic and super sensitive mindset" (he says so himself) it's hard not to fall in love with his oh-so whimsy lovey-dovey work.

At first glance I presumed that art so delicate and cutesy was illustrated by a girl, but I presumed wrong and after reading Kurt Halsey's bio I understood more of his personality, and that personality shows in all of his work.

Anyways ... at Urban I saw mostly canvas prints of his but seeing as I don't have walls to truly call my own let alone really decorate, I thought maybe a lovely little piggy bank would be something lovely to have.

If I had this "for all we hope for" piggy bank, It'd be filled to the brim with all the things I hope for instead of actual spare change.

a long week

It's been a very long and trying week,
but I've somehow managed to get through it,
if only by the grace of God.


As this weekend begins, hopeful and prayerfully
it may also be the beginning of other wonderful things.


I'm so undeserving of such love and grace, and with all my heart I praise God for every blessing and for the wonderful people placed in my life. I've been blessed beyond words and in return I pray that I may be of the same blessing to others.

Cup of Joe

Ok, so I'm a little late in blogging this because Christmas was a while ago, but this Christmas present can't go unnoticed any longer.

For Christmas, me and my sister playfully wanted kitchen appliances and amongst the many we wanted a coffee maker. To our surprise we got one, a lovely little 10 cup Toastmaster coffee maker. YAY!

All thanks to Angie, Ate Sharyl and their lovely parents. Of course Ate Sharyl looked out and suggested the whole coffee maker thing all the way from California (thank you Blogger..haha), but besides that I love our gift exchanging with the whole Cano family.

For some reason we have the tendency to exchange fully practical appliances for presents. Like how we gave the girls a Cone Vacuum Cleaner one Christmas, or how the girls gave me my very first sewing machine for what I think was my 17th birthday. YAY for gift giving, and receiving!

The Mad Hatter

I've been up to some mad crafting lately,
and I've easily turned into the mad hater


And here are a few of the hats I've made so far.

The first two I made with out any assistance or any pattern (even the flower I some how managed to muster up from my imagination) , the last three I used this lovely little pattern to make a "sloppy" little hat.

I was eyeing this cute tee online two days ago, Then I saw Tim yesterday and we finally got to exchange Christmas presents. He surprised me completely and got me this shirt.

Collection of the week {15}

This week I wanted to share a photography collection that inspires me to continue exploring different feelings and personalities with photography.

Britgitte Sire's work is wonderful and intriguing. Her photography has this grungy kind of personality, but in all its quirkiness it's still quite friendly. Her use of (usually) indirect, and soft lighting give each photo a muted color, but she still manages to maintain a great quality of contrast. Lovely.

That shall be my newest challenge, to achieve a soft lit, muted color, fairly high contrasting photo. That seems difficult written out in one long sentence, but Britgitte's photography is just that contagious and inspiring.

Her clients consist of W Magazine, Domino Magazine, Elle Girl Magazine, Urban Outfitters, Marie Claire Italy, Discover Magazine, JANE, and NYLON Magazine just to name a few.

Lastly Brigitte Sire's site is lovely in it's simplicity and is cleverly design. I don't see many photo portfolios presented this way. I love it.
