Collection of the week {61}

This week's collection is actually a group of hard core, rule breaking knitters: Knitta! In their words Knitta  is "a tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings". Who says knitting is for just old folks? These guys are so creative! I wonder when they'll hit up DC! Here ... watch them in action!

shipping them out, it's the same process the very next day.

One of the most exciting things for me this season

has got to be the gift giving and making.

I know it's a little soon in posting with Christmas still a few hours away, but most of these presents have been opened and received already so I believe it's safe to share. I wanted the kids and some of the girls to open their handmade presents all together at church so I could see how they look, fit, and also see their reactions at the same time. Oh what fun it is to wrap and give out some handmade!!!

After the kids .. it was my bunsoys who were next.

Happy Headbands in demand

I made this little thing in my spare time before a show, turns out lots of people want one. One of my girlfriends wore it to work {Madewell} and a handful of her customers asked where she got it. Hope was a sweetheart and gave each person who asked, my shop and email so they've been in demand ever since.

Get slouchy

To my amazement my "Sweet Slouchy Hat" has been selling quite well. I've got a few new custom orders for it in the past few days, and I've been planning on unlisting it from my shop due to the changing of weather, but I've decided that I will be making them late into the spring. Busy Little Bee

I've been a busy little bee. Though I've been a little slow with opening up my Etsy shop, I'm still trying to work out a few things and put together more products ... so please bear with.

I've been uber busy drawing, crafting, crocheting and generating superhero ideas, all in the comfort of my own bed. You should see the mess I make ... or not. Haha

As for this ever so cute little bumble bee hat, I'll be selling it in my shop and maybe even the pattern for it. If you want one before my shop goes up just let me know. Also no stealing por favor, thanks.

Etsy Excitement

Etsy here I come!

Slowly but surely I'm getting ready to open up my Etsy shop. Hopefully in a few days my shop will be up and running (and by a few days I mean by next week, hopefully). Please be in prayer for me. I'm a bit nervous, but excited all at the same time. Everyone has been so supportive, and I praise and thank God for friends and family both near and far, for their love and encouragement.

I scream for Icecream!

Today we took a little trip to the bookstore and of course I found my way to the arts and crafts section. I wasn't looking of any thing particular, well ok maybe a bit of inspiration craft wise, and I opened up Kristen Rask's book: Plush You! and got all the inspiration I needed to made my lastest tastiest project. I scream for Icecream! Do you? I've been playing with this little thing since I finished it today ... took me about an hour and a half to cook up. Not bad for a first attempt at an imaginary pattern huh? I concocted this sucker in my head ... because I didn't buy any books from the bookstore for assistance, and plus none of the books had a pattern for this little icecream I was dreaming up. Yay for yummy inspiration!

Anyways I've been trying to generate more ideas for my soon to open Etsy shop, exploring different craft projects and perfecting the ideas I already have. Please pray for me and this little project of mine. With a bit of faith and alot of elbow grease I'm hoping my etsy shop will be a success ... God willing.

I was really inspired from flipping through Plush You! Because alot of the artists featured in it listed their bloggers, or their Etsy shops as their main websites ... If they can do it, maybe I can too.

Handmade exchange

Funny story ... yesterday when I received my handmade cakies, Ruby in exchange received my hats for her and the girls at the same exact time. For being on opposite sides of the country our timing was pretty awesome.





Here are my first west coast customers rocking their Ica made hats. I'm soo glad that they fit the girls nicely and I'm glad True's little dolly likes it too. YAY for gift exchanging in January and handmade crafting! PS: Picture taken by the cakies mama herself. Thanks Ruby.

Etsy.... here I come.

The Mad Hatter

I've been up to some mad crafting lately,
and I've easily turned into the mad hater


And here are a few of the hats I've made so far.

The first two I made with out any assistance or any pattern (even the flower I some how managed to muster up from my imagination) , the last three I used this lovely little pattern to make a "sloppy" little hat.

UFO sightings and old projects

After doing some major "spring cleaning" this week I found a few of my really old projects. Some that I completed, some I didn't.



Out of the many things I found, I fell upon this UFO of mine (UFO: unfinished object). It had great potential, because I put together the pattern myself and actually executed it quite nicely, but what I never got to do was make the pair for it. So this lovely little hand warmer is all by it's lonesome.

While cleaning I also found the first tote I ever made. I made this tote about three years ago, knitting and sewing all the little peices together took me forever by I did finish it. I haven't really shown anyone this bag because I couldn't find it for awhile. But here it is.



This baby is my pride and joy and the quality of it is quite grand, especially for my first tote ever. Yay for old projects that bring you joy!

Morning Crafting

I woke up this morning to this lovely little tune in my head.
It's from some random cereal commercial that I love.



Anywho's ... I woke up nice and early to start my Saturday morning crafting and in preparation for the crafting I took out my lovely little Pooh Bear mug I bought at the Disney store last night, and opened up a new bag of my new favorite tea, Hickory Farm's Boston's French Vanilla Tea.


My project of the day is this royal blue "pretty puffs slouchy hat",
and this time I'm actually following a pattern.



Last night I started and finished this little cutesy kid-sized cap. I drew it up from my imagination and didn't follow a pattern, but it shows... I know better this time around.





On another note.. I made this cozy little sleeve for my mug last week. I made it because I hate when I grab for my tea and the mug is super hot. I've also been thinking I should made a whole bunch of these sleeves and used them for all of my other mugs and even when I go out for coffee.



It'd be cute to have this darling little thing around my Starbucks cup and though it's a really simple and small gesture, go green in which ever way possible, you know?

Lastly I was going through my blog roll today and when I went to Hazel's blogger and saw her christmas eve blog I instantly fell in love with the Yael Naim video she posted. (Hope you don't mind me posting this video on my blog Hazel,but I absolutely love it)
