Monday date

Just got home from a lovely little date with Tim.

It's been a while since we've gone on a date and even if it was a rainy Monday night, It's the best case of "the Mondays" I've ever had! Roses, a movie, gummy bears, and dinner ... Tim rocks!

Thank you for everything Pablo!!!
{Note: Mother dearest calls Tim, Pablo}

VBS bliss

VBS was a great blessing.
It was quite an eventful and blessed week.

Meeting Mr. Cakelove

It's an undeniable fact that I do adore cakes from scratch,

I love to love Cakelove!

And on a blissful Saturday afternoon after work I got to be one lucky gal and meet the Mr. CakeLove himself, the genius behind the goods! Warren Brown was SUPER tall and uber nice. He stood out amongst the busy weekend crowd at the mall, and it seemed as if no one really knew who he was {which me and sister are totally perturbed by because he's absolutely genius!}

Big sister actually went with mother earlier in the day to meet him and get his cake book signed and I asked sister to do me one favor. I asked her to tell Warren Brown, Thanks for making great cupcakes!

His little cakes of love have tickled my fancy and a silly as it sounds, they make my day every time I have one. I'm sad we don't get The Food Network because I'd be watching his show all the time!

I can't wait to make some love of my own!

There are a million beautiful recipes in his book and I can't wait to try baking all of them! It's been a long time since I've baked anything so this shall be my long a waited return! HAHA! Just the other day my cousin from London asked for a recipe of mine and it reminded me of just how much I miss it.

Needles in my eyes

I had needles poked into my eyes today ... literally.

Ekks! It was pretty scary, but it happened all to quickly. I had no time to react really because after my contact check up the doctor then said go and went ahead numbed my eye balls, most importantly my tear ducts, then she inserted an inch and a half long needle into both of my tear ducts, then she inserted the reverse side of the needles {which was another needle} into each eye. Each end of the second set had super tiny silicone "plugs" attached to them which the doctor then inserted into the holes she just created in my tear ducts.

The reason I had plugs put into my eyes is because they are naturally really really dry. The plugs help my tear ducts create more tears, and they will remain in my eyes for the next 6-8 months till they dissolve. It's weird knowing there are things in my eyes although I'm use to contacts, these are just a little more permanent. The plugs aren't visible from the outside but I can feel them inside my tear ducts, it's barely noticable and it's not uncomfortable or painful at all. I've already noticed a great difference since this morning and my eyes don't feel dry at all.

Praise God it all went smoothly and that my eyes are better than before, but I still can't shake the scary sight of those needles. I abhor needles...

Collection of the week {33}

Want to see great graphic design work? Check out JESS3. I found them at DC's very own Art-o-matic 2008.

Their illustration are simple and brilliant!

But my favorite is their collages. They are one of a kind.

I heart JESS3!

Book worm

Besides my every day Chinese food routine ... I've been reading.

I love reading but it has been awhile since I've picked up a book and let my imagination take me some place outside the four walls that contain me at home or at work. And though it's been a very eventful month I've some how managed to read through two good books and get through half of another. Here's what's been on my reading list this month.

The Rescue, An exciting read and sparks an array of emotion, no pun intended.

Forgive Me, A very insightful and inspiring novel about the apartheid in Africa. Me and my uncle who's lived in Sudan for a number of years, and is very very familiar with the South African culture and history, gave me his insight and first hand experience and knowledge about Africa. I've learned alot from this book and it's given me inspiration to go explore more photographic options and even inspired me to dance again.

PS. I love you, if you love the movie you'll adore the book. I'm not quite done with this book just yet because I'm savoring every second of it.

"You wanna talk about mother!!!"

Mother's birthday was full of good fun,
great food ... and a dance party to never forget!

At the strike of 12, we had midnight candles for mother dearest.

For her birthday present/mother's day present we bought her, my aunt and ate Jaylyn tickets to the Journey Concert in August ... we wanted to stay true to the so we played DON'T STOP BELIEVING when my mom walked in and then we all started dancing hysterically for about an hour, just the three of us.

All the way from Iraq Terrence sent my mom some birthday love in the form of Journeys CD and DVD set that she was eyeing for some time.

And me and sister scattered around the candles were 45 animal crackers .. because mother is an animal!! HAHA

After a crazy night of dancing and candles my mom passed out right there on the sofa ... she is truly a party animal. haha.

And just like every sunday we went to church.

There was more dancing to be done as you can see, because we were all practicing for this week's VBS.

After church we made our way to our favorite park, Vaness ... which has become our hang out spot every sunday after church for a handful of years now.

Everyone played a little basketball.

And sister got to finally enjoy a Sunday evening off.
She got just relax and listen to her Zune with her goddaughter.

And play with my godson in the water.

For dinner we headed out to Cactus Cantina, a childhood favorite of mine which is conveniently located down the street from our church.

We were a loud bunch, as we always are ... and there were cheers all around!

The two birthday girls were chatting up a storm at the head of the table the whole night.

It was a great day filled with lots of love, blessing and laughs.

I love my mom and I'm glad we got make
her birthday fun filled and memorable.

A goodnight song for you...

Brooke Fraser = my fav

goodnight.

Beautiful baby boys

Spring time last year brought on many new blessings, one of the greatest I could have ever asked for was my godson, Nathan Jeremiah. I am soo honored and blessed to be called his "ninang" {godmother} and every time I see his lovely face I swear I fall in love with his cuteness all over again.

He's beautiful, noisy and is in his words "OH WOW!"

He's so small but he's got the heart and personality of his dad
... everything loud!

{did I mention, he loves water}

Watching him grow and learn new things, like how
to say "FISH!" or "BALL!" brings me soo much joy.

... now guess what ...
I'M A GODMOTHER AGAIN!

The newest baby boy blessing in my life is ...

My newest godson, Elijah Roy Medina.

Yesterday, on my mom's birthday Elijah's lovely parents handed out invitations to his dedication and I was handed my own personal invite. Strange, I thought, because our family usually shares invitations. So I opened up it up and there was a pretty little invitation placed inside.

Later I was approached by my best friend, Elijah's beautiful auntie, who had an overly enthusiastic expression upon her face as I had a look of confusion upon mine in response to her. She knew what I didn't know, because I failed to look beyond the surface... She told me to look inside Elijah's invitation once more, and there it was ... hidden in the bottom of the invitation was a tiny blue card camouflaged against the already blue envelope.

I'm a godmother. {It read in short}

What a joy.

I've known ate Javee for more that 15 years now, which is almost my entire lifetime ... so to say we're lifelong friends ... I mean just that. We grew up together, the four of us .. me, my sister, ate Javee and Lily. And we've each come a long way since. But as far back as I can remember ate Javee, being the eldest, always exuded this nurturing quality. We were kids for what seemed like forever ... and now here were are, mother, godmother ... forever friends.

I love my godsons, they are the sooo beautiful.
